Our Story
How We Met
Ryan and Zoe met at Terra Nova High School way back in 2014. When Ryan graduated, he became an assistant coach in the Terra Nova baseball program that he was once a part of. As photo editor of the school newspaper, Zoe would use the bed of his truck as a vantage point to shoot the baseball team during games. They quickly became close friends and bonded over their shared interest in sports, like baseball and hockey.
In September of 2015, they upgraded their friendship after a series of dates at hockey games, baseball games, and the San Francisco Zoo. It was obvious that Zoe and Ryan were meant for each other as their relationship immediately blossomed into something beautiful, although there was a moment when Ryan almost left Zoe at an In-N-Out for taking a shot of ketchup, which he despises. In spite of this minor setback, the following November, they expanded their little family to include their first dog together, Remi.
Over the course of the last eight years, Ryan and Zoe have shared so many beautiful, funny, and wacky memories. From romantic dinners to many, many, many sports games, Ryan and Zoe always have fun together. At one memorable playoff hockey game, Ryan convinced Zoe to get her face elaborately painted before randomly meeting one of her favorite baseball players, Brandon Belt, which she still hasn't forgiven him for.
Ryan and Zoe are also known for being extremely talented at winning carnival games. On more than one occasion, Ryan has won Zoe an entire fleet of food-themed Squishmallows, which they have proudly displayed in their room downstairs. Their favorites include dart balloon popping and anything involving throwing balls.
Our Relationship
Engagement Story
Before their sixth anniversary in the late summer of 2021, Ryan and Zoe were planning a Disneyland trip together. After a few tasteful hints, Ryan decided he would propose to Zoe in front of the castle on the day of their anniversary. Zane quickly became involved, planning to secretly fly down and photograph the special moment for Zoe and Ryan. Soon enough, the secret escapade expanded to include Zoe's parents, Hep and Roger, and Ryan's parents, Kevin and Christine.
The group flew down and undertook preventative and elaborate measures to ensure the secret was kept from Zoe, including posting faux instagram posts of morning walks with the dogs and changing their Apple locations to devices left at home. Together, they camped beside a churro vendor and watched Zoe, in real time, decide she did not want a photo in front of the castle that day.
Ryan frantically texted the secret group chat and adapted by convincing her to flip a coin into the wishing well beside the castle. It was there that he got down on one knee and propose to Zoe, who actually thought he was joking at first. She realized it was definitely not a joke when her family, along with Ryan's parents, popped out from the bushes and yelled "Surprise!"
